It features congested dark blue-green foliage on a narrow, upright silhouette with twisting, irregular, upswept branches that are reminiscent of the Saguaro cactus in Arizona. Growing to around 15 feet tall and 2 to 4 feet wide, most often with a single trunk, makes it a perfect fit for smaller spaces. No two trees are alike! Landscape & Garden Uses Growing to 15 feet tall and 2 to 4 feet wide over time, the Wissel's Saguaro Lawson Cypress is ideal for use as a focal point specimen in the landscape. It can also be grown in containers. A fine addition to rock gardens, Asian themed gardens and conifer gardens. Growing Preferences Wissel's Saguaro Lawson Cypress is easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and full sun to part shade. A minimum of 5 to 6 hours of direct sunlight is suggested. Whether growing in the ground or in pots, constantly soggy soil or standing water is problematic, so plant in a well-drained site or pot and avoid overwatering. Provide only enough water to keep the soil damp to moist. Established plants are quite drought tolerant and will only require an occasional drink during prolonged periods of drought. Maintenance is minimal. No pruning required except to snip a rare, stray branch tip that is spoiling the shape of the plant. That said, selective pruning can be done for shaping purposes.
