Description

Noted for its superior cold hardiness to -12 degrees F in USDA Zone 6a, 'Victoria' was named after Victoria British Columbia and is a magnificent evergreen Southern Magnolia cultivar that northerners can enjoy! As with her cousins, she features cup-shaped white flowers up to up to 8 inches inches across that will fill a front or backyard with heavenly lemony aroma in summer. All grown up, Victoria can grow to 35 feet tall and wide with more of a rounded crown than other varieties and glossy, deep green leaves with bronze undersides.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing in an upright rounded form from 30 to 35 feet tall and equally as wide, the Victoria Magnolia is ideal for use as a focal point specimen, in groupings, or in tall privacy screen plantings. A fine addition to fragrance gardens, white theme gardens, bird and wildlife gardens, and cut flower and cottage gardens.

Spacing:  15 to 20 feet apart for privacy screens;  37 feet or more apart for space between trees

Growing Preferences

The Victoria Magnolia is very easy to grow in a moist but well-drained soil of average or better fertility, preferring one that is rich in organic matter. Grows well in full sun or part shade. At least 4 hours of direct sunlight or all-day filtered sun is suggested.
