Description

If you've always loved the heavenly fragrance and old-fashioned charm of Mock Orange but didn't have room for one in your garden meet 'Illuminati Arch', a new generation Philadelphus that grows to only 4 feet tall and wide and excels in flower power and fragrance. In spring, this Mock Orange puts on a spectacular flower show with its abundance of extremely double flowers with white petals. The wonderful aroma is reminiscent of orange blossoms, hence the name. Deep green leaves clothe the stems that arch at the top. Very easy to grow, Mock Orange is one touch but pretty plant with high resistance to deer and is hardy, adaptable to many soils and long-lived. Make sure to plant this aromatic wonder near windows, patios, decks and other outdoor living spaces where the sweet fragrance and pretty flowers can be enjoyed from closer up.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing to only 4 feet tall and wide, the Illuminati Mock Orange is ideal for use as an accent, in groupings, or as a colorful and fragrant hedge. It is a fine addition to a sunny flowering shrub border, fragrance gardens, white theme gardens, cut flower gardens, and the cottage garden.

Suggested Spacing:  3.5 feet apart for hedges, 7 feet or more apart for space between plants

Growing Preferences

Mock Orange is exceptionally easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil and lots of sun. Some shade is tolerated however it will flower more profusely in full sun. Is drought tolerant once established, however will appreciate a good weekly soaking during an extended drought in the hottest part of the summer. If you see the leaves starting to wilt just give the plant a good drink. Can be pruned after flowering for shaping. Avoid pruning in fall or winter as Mock Orange blooms on old wood (the previous year's growth). Rejuvenation pruning is the favored method as it will encourage heavier budding and blooming. Every few years after flowering simply cut out about one-third of the stems starting with the largest first.

The plant arrived in perfect condition as all the plants I order form Wilson Brothers do. The leaves are still on the plant and there are even buds for new leaves. I immediately planted it and it's been about a week and the leaves still look green and fresh. I am always very happy with the quality of the plants from you and will continue to order from you for my future plant needs. Thank you very much. Lucy Zygmunt----------------------------------------Wow! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and great review! :) Beth Steele | WBG
I was a little hesitant when I received the bush as it was dormant. Unfortunately, our ground is still frozen as it is March, so I placed the bush in a spare room I have that we keep heated to about 55 degrees. It's been inside for about 3 weeks and I can now see leaf buds starting on several of the branches. I can't wait to get this bush planted and see and smell the blossoms as it grows over the coming years.---------------------------------Yhats a very cool plant! Thanks so much for your review. Let us know if there's ever anything we can help you with. :) - Beth | WBG
