Landscape & Garden Uses Growing in rounded mound 6 to 8 feet tall and equally as wide, the Gatsby Pink Oakleaf Hydrangea is ideal for use as a specimen, in groupings or mass plantings, or as a natural hedge in sunny to partially shaded landscape and woodland borders. Also works well where a large shrub is desired in home foundation plantings borders or home foundation plantings. Suggested Spacing: 6 feet apart for hedge; 10 feet or more apart for space between plants Growing Preferences Gatsby Pink Oakleaf Hydrangea is easy to grow and resistant to pests and diseases. It thrives in any location from full sun to deep shade in moist but well-drained soil of average fertility. In hotter climates of the South (USDA Zones 7-9) some filtered sun or shade in the afternoon is suggested. Note: Gatsby Pink is a Hydrangea quercifolia (oakleaf) species that produces its flowers from buds that formed on "old wood" (during the previous year). Oakleaf hydrangeas typically require little to no pruning. They are best left alone. That said they can be pruned to remove a stray branch or to reduce size. Contact Us This Gatsby Pink and one other plant are my first orders from Wison Bros and I am a believer!! I have mail ordered plants here and there the last 20 years and no one comes close to the level of superhero packing that these plants were in. They arrived safe, secure, moist, healthy, and ready for planting. Love that large size, older plants are available, any advantage is useful in the Las Vegas area dry heat! I've had GP in the ground for a few weeks now and she is thriving. She arrived with sturdy healthy stems, foliage and one bud, and after a few days where she didn't know if she liked the warmth, she has adjusted and is doing very well. The bud she arrived with is opening beautifully and there are two more developing. Additionally, she's increased in size about 4 inches in every direction in the last 3 weeks since she's been in the ground. May was cooler than usual, and it remains to be seen if she will continue to do well through the Summer. An Oakleaf Hydrangea is a pretty big gamble here in the desert, but I've got her on the NE corner of my house where she gets shade by 12/12:30pm, and she'll get lots of water. I'm crossing my fingers!--------------------------------------Wow! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and great review! :) Beth Steele | WBG
