In late spring, Dauntless shows off abundant clusters of 2-inch diameter funnel-shape flowers with deep purplish red petals surrounding a scarlet eye zone. The upper petal is splashed with deep red freckles. The plant itself has a low and spreading habit to 2 feet tall by 3 or more feet wide. This lower profile makes it an excellent selection for use in groupings or as a groundcover or low border in the landscape. The evergreen foliage emerges light green in spring maturing to a handsome dark green throughout the rest of the year. The butterflies and hummingbirds will thank you for planting this beauty! Landscape & Garden Uses Growing 18 to 14 inches tall and 3 or more feet wide, the Dauntless Azalea is ideal for use as an accent specimen in smaller garden spaces, or in groupings or as a groundcover or border in the landscape or woodland borders and home foundation plantings. A fine addition to Azalea and Rhododendron Gardens, purple theme gardens, butterfly and hummingbird gardens and cottage gardens. Spacing: 2.5 to 3' for solid hedges; 6'+ for space between plants Growing Preferences Evergreen Azaleas are easy to grow when planted right and in the right spot. They prefer a moist but well-drained and acidic soil that is rich in organic matter and part sun. Morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sun is ideal. Moderate drought tolerance when established. Helpful Articles Click on a link below to get helpful Azalea planting and care advice from our experts.
