The more sun the better for best berry production. The shallow, fibrous roots of blueberry plants like a consistently moist but well-drained soil which can be provided by with a layer of organic mulch. Although blueberries are self-fertile, cross-pollination produces the best fruit crop (larger berries and larger yields). Therefore it is best to plant more than one variety that will bloom at the same time. Blueberry season can be extended by planting early, mid-season and late varieties. I ordered 2 blueberry bushes but their quality control didn’t approve of the quality of one, and so they only shipped one as they were out of stock for that variety and size. The plant came in perfectly, and hopefully it will survive since it was potted and not bare root. The plant seems very healthy, and boxing was very tight and secure. I have a little lost soil out of the bottom of the pot and some blooms that have fallen inside of the box. But over all, there is no damage that would be unexpected of shipping a large bush.
