The unusual flowers have strap-like petals about an 1.5 inches long and 1\/2 inch wide and, unlike most evergreen azaleas, have a sweet but subtle fragrance. In our gardens we see a good out-of-season bloom in the fall. Deep green evergreen foliage turns red in fall on an upright mounding shrub that might grow to 4 feet tall and 5 feet wide at maturity.
